Our Kickstarter is live!

We must hit our goal by September 18!

We’re months away from opening a new nonprofit arthouse in San Francisco and need your help to upgrade our electrical panel and finish construction. Over the past several years, we’ve transformed a storefront office into a movie theater fully equipped with DCP, 35mm, and 16mm projection. The process has been long, and much more expensive than we anticipated. We’re very close to the finish line but we need help to get there.

We anticipate opening this fall and are putting together a program dedicated to adventurous, curated film series: new releases, repertory, global contemporary cinema, and artists’ moving-image work. Beyond the theater, our lobby cafe will provide a space to socialize after the film.

The Portal has been a labor of love and we’re so excited to share it with you. Our Kickstarter campaign is designed to cover the minimum we need to get our doors open this fall.
